Description
THE TRIPLETS HAVE AN ADVENTURE is the 10th book in the Christian children’s series THE TRIPLETS. And, yes indeed, an adventure it was in the true sense of the word! After Andy’s party and other farewells, the whole Baer family packed up and left California for home. The triplets took turns riding in the bus, and the rest followed on behind, meeting the bus at night. Things went along smoothly for quite a while. The bus travelers enjoyed the scenery and the people. But the tranquility came to an end. Behind them two rough looking men were evidently trying to carry out some mysterious plot, for they talked about it in low tones. The children listened carefully and then decided on a plan of action. Each one played an important part in the solution which led to the foiling of the plot. As the Sunday School Times says of these stories, “Children of 8 to 12 years will eagerly devour the stories, while Christian parents will enjoy reading them to the smaller tots.” The King’s Business adds, “There is a wholesome atmosphere of Christian home life.” (From the publisher, 1947 Edition) BRENDA CANNON (Bertha B. Moore) was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1890. After teaching school for seven years in that city, she attended the Women’s Missionary Union Training School in Louisville, Kentucky. In 1919 she went to North Carolina to serve as secretary of a small mission school, which developed into a home for homeless children and continued to serve the young mountaineers of the area as a school. Except for two years spent as a field worker and young people’s leader in Oklahoma, Cannon remained in North Carolina, teaching school and doing community work. So when she wrote of mountaineers, she wrote understandingly of friends and neighbors. She is known for her Christian children’s fiction, including THE TRIPLETS series. She also wrote under the pseudonyms Brenda Cannon, Betsy McCurry, and Bertha B. McCurry. She died in North Carolina in 1965.
