Don’t Take Your Love From Me Customer Reviews: Re-mastered mono recordings sound pretty darn good June 16, 2000 By Mack_T_Knife Format:Audio CD While it’s true, these recording are all in mono sound, the are very enjoyable considering the era they were recorded in. The recording quality certainly will not inhibit your enjoyment of the music or Mel’s voice in his prime. There’s alot of upbeat stuff on this CD along with some crooner tunes. If you’ve never heard Mel’s “Swinging On the Moon”, that cut is worth the nominal price of the CD alone. There’s a 3 CD slipcase set containing this CD, Luck Be a Lady, and ‘Round Midnight put out by laserlighy. It’s a much better value than buying all 3 CDs individually. All the CDs are remastered mono recordings, but again, the recording quailty, while not up to today’s immaculate standards, doesn’t overshadow the great music of the Velvet Fog. (It’s not as if they’re just old radio broadcast recordings on a CD…these are studio cuts from the late 40’s & early 50’s). Good cuts here not available on other, newer, pricier CDs. I’m normally a harsh critic but trust me, you will not be disappointed here!
