Description

Victor Wolfgang von Hagen (2/29/08-3/8/85) was an American explorer, archeological historian, anthropologist & travel writer who traveled the South Americas with his wife Christine (later Silvia). Mainly between 1940 & 1965, he published a large number of widely acclaimed books about the ancient people of the Inca, Maya & Aztecs. In the early 1950s, he went for a two year exploration of Peru’s ancient Inca roads & found the only surviving suspension bridge of this trail. His daughter, Adriana von Hagen, is a museum codirector in Leymebamba, Peru.

Item Condition: Used Good. 1960 printing of the 1947 edition with same cover as pictured. Hardcover has some wear along the sides, scuffs and marks. Front cover has a tear in one corner revealing the cardboard, but rest of the cover is good. No dust jacket. Spine has some wear on the top and bottom. Pages are clean and the binding is secure.
