Description

This is the first, and best, of the series of “GIDGET” films that set the stage for a wave of beach movies in the 1960’s. Francie Lawrence (Sandra Dee) is Gidget who, like hundreds of other teenagers during summer vacation, leads for the beach. Soon she finds herself adopted as the mascot of a group of college boys who surf at Malibu. As days go by, Gidget is increasingly attracted to one particular boy, Moondoggie (James Darren), a young law student. But their young romance is complicated when a surf-bum knows as Kahoona (Cliff Robertson) makes a play for the naïve Gidget. The four Preps make a special appearance singing “Gidget” and “Cinderella”.
