Description
There are no real estate agents in Antigua. Usually you learn about houses for sale by asking several elderly women who make a business of knowing about everything that goes on. If you but a house through their knowledge of local gossip, a small fee is expected of the purchaser and not of the former owner. I had come here with my wife, Margueritte, to finish a novel. Margueritte was making good use of her time recording the Guatemalan scene in water color, and, during the months that we worked here, we began to think increasingly of making Antigua our home.
